The Flying Saucers — Thursday

This week in Banner Elk, see The Flying Saucers, a six-piece Rockabilly and Oldies group that promises a good time in the High Country. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. at Tate-Evans Park.

Strictly Strings and Spencer Branch — Friday

Check out the youthful sounds of the talented musicians behind the group Strictly Strings and the old time mountain tunes from Spencer Branch starting at this week’s Concerts on the Lawn event at the Jones House Community Center in downtown Boone. The music begins at 5 p.m. on Friday night. Bring blankets or lawn chairs and pack an umbrella just in case.

Possum Jenkins — Friday

This group hails from Winston-Salem and they’re making their way to Blowing Rock this weekend to share with you their unique “Carolinacana” sounds. The concert is part of the Music on the Lawn series at The Best Cellar. Music starts at 5:30 p.m., but bring your lawn chair and get their early for a good spot. While you’re there, enjoy the cash bar and lawn menu from The Best Cellar.

The Mountain Laurels — Friday

The all-local female musicians behind The Mountain Laurels bring you their own “Celti-lachian” music, which blends Americana, folk and celtic sounds for an unforgettable performance. Check them out at Valle Crucis Community Park starting at 6:30 p.m. for this week’s Music in the Valle show. Suggested $5 donations for admission support the private nonprofit community park.

Melissa Reaves — Saturday

Make your way to the community of Todd to enjoy an evening of music from accomplished guitarist and vocalist Melissa Reaves. The music starts at 6 p.m. at Cook Memorial Park off of Railroad Grade Road. Burgers, hotdogs and chips will be for sale at this event, which serves as the season finale for the summer series hosted by the Todd Community Preservation Organization.
