Sept. 23, 2014. On Thursday, Sept. 18, the Boone Police Department along with the ASU Police Department, Blowing Rock Police Department and State Highway Patrol conducted an impaired driving checking station on N.C. 105 near the old Watauga High School.
As a result of the checking station, the following charges were made:
- 3 Driving While Impaired;
- 2 Driving While License Revoked;
- 1 Drug Violation;
- 1 Alcohol Violations;
- 6 Other Motor Vehicle Law Violations.
Fifteen officers utilizing a Governor’s Highway Safety Program mobile breath-alcohol testing unit, better known as a BATMobile, participated in the checking station. Local law enforcement agencies will continue to conduct checking stations over the next several months.
