12th ‘Hope Lives Here’ Hospitality House Hope Luncheon Aug. 18 at Blue Ridge Mountain Club

Executive Director Tina Krause, along with the Hospitality House Board of Directors will be hosting its annual Hope Luncheon on Friday, Aug. 18 in the heart of the High Country at Blue Ridge Mountain Club, where the Blue Ridge Mountains meet the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Presented by Linda Robinson and Patti Turner of the Robinson/Turner team at Premier Sotheby’s International Realty and Mast General Store this year’s luncheon, “Hope Lives Here,” will commence at 11:00 a.m. with a wine social and silent auction. Lunch will be served at noon with the program slated to end at 1:00 p.m.

“This is shaping up to our most special luncheon to date,” states Hospitality House director of development Todd Carter. “There is a lot of excitement around the uniqueness of our program and all that is being offered.”

Mabel School student and eleven year old author Madison Welch to speak about homeless children of Hospitality House

This year’s theme, “Hope Lives Here,” highlights the many ways that hope manifests in the programs and support offered by Hospitality House.

Eleven year old author and Mabel School student Madison Welch will debut her book “Voices from the Heart,” about homeless children of Hospitality House, and discuss the impact that it has had on her.

Former touring musician and current resident Frank James will be performing an original song he wrote about Hospitality House.

A Wilkes county mother of five will share her experience of living in a tent with her husband and family before moving into one of the three bedroom, two bathroom Scattered Site Housing units leased by Hospitality House.

And finally, the official release of “From Our House to Yours, Recipes from the Heart. The Hearts of Hospitality House Cookbook.” The cookbook, a first for the nonprofit, features recipes from best-selling cookbook author and Linville Ridge resident Jorj Morgan, tips and recipes from over fifteen High Country restaurants, hundreds of delicious dishes from many of the Bread of Life Community Kitchen meal providers; as well as, history, photos and testimonials.

The luncheon, catered by Buddy Fore of Grouse Moor Catering and supported by David Patrick Moses, Architect and Molecular Toxicology Inc., will also feature an impressive array of silent auction items from The Spa at Chetola, Blowing Rock Furniture Gallery, Tatum Galleries, Monkee’s, Welcome Home Thriftique, Eric Reichard Studio, local artists and more.

There is no cost to attend, as the agency hosts the luncheon at no charge for attendees and event costs are underwritten by sponsorships. At the program’s conclusion, guests will be asked to contribute to the mission of Hospitality House in the form of a check or 12-month pledge.
