Don’t miss “the Sounds of Summer” this weekend as local outdoor concert series kick off for the season. Let loose and unwind with one or more of these live music events going on in the High Country this weekend.

 The Lazybirds at the Jones House on Friday

The summer concert series kicks off for the season on the lawn at the Jones House in downtown Boone with a performance by the Lazybirds at 5 p.m. on Friday. This American band with Appalachian roots will bring you blues, jazz, country and ragtime.

Supa Tight at Music on the Lawn on Friday

Check out the funky sounds of the Asheville-based band Supa Tight at the Best Cellar in Blowing Rock on Friday night at this week’s Music on the Lawn event. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the cash bar and special lawn menu. Although funk is their specialty, Supa Tight’s sound incorporates elements of reggae, soul, jazz and comedic country.

Rescue Jack at Music in the Valle on Friday

Take a walk in the park and enjoy the Americana/blues sounds of Rescue Jack at this week’s Music in the Valle event. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. at Valle Crucis Community Park. No admission, although $5 donations to the park per person are recommended. Don’t forget your lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets!

Steve and Lorrie Barker, Kent Dowell at Linville Falls Winery on Saturday
