Photos: Emergency Fest Brings Fun for All Ages, Awareness to ASU Campus on Saturday

Local families flocked to the Peacock Parking Lot near Raley Hall on the campus of Appalachian State University on Saturday to join in on the festivities at this year’s Emergency Fest.

The 12th annual event was organized and sponsored by the Watauga County Firefighters Association, bringing personnel from all of the county’s emergency-service organizations together for a fun community outreach day.

Guests of all ages joined the celebration, which aims to bring awareness of the capabilities of emergency services in the High Country. Kids and their families got to meet emergency personnel, hear their stories, learn about what they do and even check out their official vehicles.

Festival-goers even witnessed a controlled burn led by the Boone Fire Department and a live demolition display by the Wilkes County Bomb Squad.

Festivities brought tons of fun to all involved, and the community was reminded how hard emergency organizations work to keep us safe.
