June 13, 2013. The Watauga County Firefighters Association celebrates its 10th year presenting EmergencyFest to the citizens of the High Country this Saturday, June 16. The free event offers demonstrations and displays of emergency safety tips to children and parents.
Participants are the Fire Department, Police Department, Bomb Squad, EMS and Forest Service.
Safety tips include learning to put out a cooking fire, crawl low in a smoke filled environment and knock down simulated flames from a small house. Children can also have hands on experience in using a firehouse, enjoy clowns, face painting and a bouncy house.
“There will be plenty of people here,” said Ronnie Marsh, President of Watauga County Firefighters Association. “There’s all kinds of things that are fun for kids.”
EmergencyFest takes place in Raley parking lot on ASU’s campus and kicks of at 10 a.m. and lasts until 2 p.m. Pets are allowed and admission is free.
