10th Annual Charity Ride for Hospice Set for Sept. 23 at the Boone Moose Lodge

Riders leave from the Moose Lodge during an annual charity ride.

Motorcyclists from around the region are invited to again take part in the 10th annual Hospice Charity Run on September 23rd, at the Boone Moose Lodge. The charity run is an annual motorcycle ride held each fall to raise funds for local Hospice in both Watauga and Avery counties.

Riders will gather at the Lodge beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the actual ride slated to start at 10:30am at the Boone Moose Lodge, 607 Deerfield Rd. in Boone. Besides riding the area and visiting other Moose Lodges along the way, there will be door prizes, food, a free t-shirt and entertainment at the Boone Moose Lodge once returning to Boone in the afternoon. All riders are welcome to join the fund raiser for $25 per single rider and $30 for double riders. Riders and sponsors can claim registration and donations as a tax-deductible donation.  The Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 1805 in Boone, NC, produces the ride.

“We always have a great time on this ride and encourage anyone who likes to ride motorcycles to join us. You don’t have to be a Moose member to be a part of this ride,” says Jimmy Hughes, President of the Boone Moose Riders and coordinator of the ride. “The Moose Lodge is always looking to make new friends that share in the ideals and sense of community that our fraternal order embodies. We enjoy helping our neighbors and making a difference in our community,” he said.

Over the nine years and through the annual Charity Ride, Boone Moose Lodge 1805 has contributed nearly $30,000 dollars to local Hospice.

The Loyal Order of Moose is a fraternal and service organization founded in 1888. With a combined membership of over 1,000,000 members in the Loyal Order of Moose and Women of the Moose, their presence is felt in over 1,500 communities across all 50 states and four Canadian provinces, plus Great Britain and Bermuda. The Moose organization contributes between $75 to $100 million worth of community service (counting monetary donations, volunteer hours worked and miles driven) annually. To learn more about The Loyal Order of Moose or local Boone Moose Lodge #1805, please contact the lodge at (828) 264-3804 or visit http://www.mooseintl.org/
