Sugar Mountain Resort, North Carolina. Tuesday, August 29, 2017 – The landscape in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina is beautiful all the time but especially striking in the fall. On October 14 and 15 Sugar Mountain Resort hosts the 27th Annual Oktoberfest Celebration from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day.

The festival features Bavarian music performed by the 15-piece Harbour Towne Fest Band and traditional American music by the Valle Crucis Middle School Band. German and American food is available and fills any appetite. Plus, barrels and barrels of beverages flow abundantly. The children’s fun centerincludes hay rides, corn hole, pumpkin bowling, water balloon tossing, play time with Sugar and Sweetie Bear, and an array of bounce houses.

Be sure to adorn yourself with traditional southern German attire for the Bavarian costume contest. Local & regional craft and fun food vendors sprawl out their wares on the lawn of the lower portion of the Flying Mile ski slope. From Sugar Mountain’s 4,100’ base to its peak of 5,300’ you can glide through the forest and above the treetops aboard the Summit Express chairlift. The panoramic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the midst of autumn is breathtaking.

The celebration goes on wind, rain, shine, or snow. If you could use some good mountain wear, the Sugar Mountain Sports and Gift Shop is open with apparel and footwear, as well as souvenirs and keepsakes for sale.

Admission, parking, and shuttle service are free. Lodging discounts are available when you visit Oktoberfest weekend. There’s still room for vendors, and volunteers are always encouraged to join in the Oktoberfest presentation. Call 828-898-4521, or click here for additional details.
