Bring your family and friends and get splashy in Middle Fork Creek for Casting Bread Ministries’ third annual Ducky Regatta. This year’s regatta will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 194 Aho Road in Blowing Rock on the FaithBridge UMC campus. Proceeds from the day’s festivities support our mission of meeting the food insecurity and scarcity needs of our friends and neighbors in the High Country, while implementing sustainable solutions to poverty.

In addition to duck races, this family friendly event features live music and children’s activities, including face painting, a bouncy house, games, adopt-a-duck, and more. Food and drinks will be available. Admission is free, and duck racing is $5 per duck or five ducks for $20. There will be a prize package for each heat as well as final race awards of $250 to the runner up and $300 to the grand prize winner! You can purchase Ducky Regatta race tickets online at www.faithbridgeumc.org/060218ducky or call 704-807-2714 for more information. Your duck can race to win, even if you can’t attend!

The Ducky Regatta is a major fundraiser for Casting Bread Ministries, serving thousands of High Country families each year through their food pantry and soup kitchen. Since 2006, Casting Bread has been providing this critical service for our friends and neighbors. Providing access to food allows individuals and families to direct their limited resources to other needs, such as housing, utilities, and transportation.

While recognizing our obligation to meet the crisis needs of our friends and neighbors, we are committing efforts and resources to finding solutions as to why our participants find themselves in crisis to begin with. Our primary focus to meet this goal in 2018 is to launch Casting Bread Bakery. The bakery will provide job skill development and training opportunities as well as partner with other community agencies and groups to provide the training and support necessary to ensure participants are successful in their journey out of crisis and poverty.
