The second annual Summit Crawl (http://www.skisugar.com/crawl/) is a foot race up the slopes of Sugar Mountain’s famous trails. The race begins at 10:00am this Saturday, June 30. The course will wind its way up 1,200 feet over 1.2 miles and is designed for both the casual hiker out for a fun day on the mountain, and the extreme runner looking for a challenge. Registration is available online (http://shop.skisugar.com/event/) or on paper (http://www.skisugar.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Summit-Crawl_registration-2018.pdf) until 9:00am Saturday.

The Summit Crawl will begin with a mass start in front of the base lodge, and make its way up to Sugar Mountain’s 5,300 ft. peak by way of Easy Street, Gunther’s Way, and Northridge. After participants have reached the top and recovered a bit, the Summit Express, a high-speed, 6-person chair lift, will zipp them back to the bottom.

The Summit Crawl is not a competitive event, but they’ll take your time and give out prizes for the top finishers. Prizes will be provided by Merell shoes, Alpine Ski Center, Ski Country Sports, and Tweetsie Railroad. And everybody will be a winner with Lowes Foods (http://www.lowesfoods.com/) providing a First Aid/Water station at the summit. Everyone who finishes will be entered to win a 2018-19 Sugar Mountain Resort winter season pass.

This Saturday there will also be a concert by the Rockabillies 11:00am-2:00pm, and Sugar Mountain will be opening its new lift-served bike park!
