A reception for the artist will be held Saturday, June 9th from 4 to 6pm.

Salisbury depicts mountain life at its finest; from barns to “critters,” landscapes and rivers.

Painter Margaret Salisbury is featured this season in a one woman show “High Country Visions.” A graduate from Vanderbilt University with an Art History major, Margaret did not plan on becoming an artist until a few fortunate events placed her in a two week plein air workshop in Italy that was “truly life changing.”

Known for her soft yet vivid impressionistic painting style, Salisbury depicts mountain life at its finest; from barns to “critters,” landscapes and rivers. Margaret’s oil paintings are a result of years of training and dedication to her art and show her intense passion for her work and her love of the outdoors. She carries her painting materials to the edge of mountain streams, hiking trails and across area farms and fields to capture the light, mood and treasured scenes of our region. Many of the artist works are painted en plein air (out in the air) but she also creates larger works in the studio, many of which are inspired by the smaller plein air paintings.

Salisbury is known for her “soft yet vivid impressionistic painting style.”

“High Country Visions” exhibition starts June 7th and runs through June 30th. A reception for the artist will be held Saturday, June 9th from 4 to 6pm.

This season will feature an exciting mix of artists and mediums. From clay to oil on canvas; realistic landscapes and abstracts, artist talks and book signings, this season will have something for everyone. All events at the gallery are free and open to the public.

The Art Cellar Gallery focuses on North Carolina artists while including select artists from across the Southeast, showing work from large scale canvases to smaller works on paper as well as including sculpture, glass and clay.
