Stephen Stills and Judy Collins Perform at the Schaefer Center Next Thursday, November 8

Published Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11:39 am

Over 50 years ago, Stephen Stills met Judy Collins and their tumultuous love affair was immortalized by Stills with his composition “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” performed by Crosby, Stills & Nash on their landmark debut. Both artists would go on to shape modern music with visionary approaches, but Stills and Collins’ short fiery union remains a transformative era for the two artists.

These music icons will pull from their rich catalogs and share warm and intimate stories from their journeys and the 1960s folk and Laurel Canyon scenes they helped build. They will perform at the Schaefer Center on November 8 at 7 p.m.

About Stephen Stills

Recognized for his work with Buffalo Springfield, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and his solo work, Stills is best known for the hits “For What It’s Worth” by Buffalo Springfield and “Love The One You’re With” from his solo debut. He’s a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and ranked #28 in Rolling Stone’s “The 100 Greatest Guitarists Of All Time.” He also has the added distinction of being the first artist to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice in one night (for his work with CSN and Buffalo Springfield).

About Judy Collins

Collins is known for her eclectic palette as a solo artist, melding folk, rock, classical, and jazz into a singular aesthetic. Her stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” from her landmark 1967 album, Wildflowers, has been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Collins version of Stephen Sondheim’s “Send in the Clowns” won “Song of the Year” at the 1975 Grammy Awards. She’s garnered several top-ten hits gold- and platinum-selling albums. Recently, contemporary and classic artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Shawn Colvin, Dolly Parton, Joan Baez, and Leonard Cohen honored her legacy with the album Born to the Breed: A Tribute to Judy Collins.
