Mast General Store to ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ on Monday June 11 at F.A.R.M. Cafe

Monday, June 11, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., all are invited to F.A.R.M. (Feed All Regardless of Means) Café at 617 West King Street to enjoy a ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ day sponsored by Mast General Store. In sponsoring a ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ event, Mast Store is covering the café’s basic operating costs for the day. John and Faye Cooper, and the rest of the Mast Store team, supported the F.A.R.M. Café even before it began operation in 2012. Mast General Store sponsors F.A.R.M. Cafe’s annual Real.Good.Party. and is dedicated to increasing food security in the High Country.

‘Buy Boone Lunch’ days are similar to regular days at F.A.R.M. Café where guests donate what they can for a great lunch. Because of Mast Store’s generous donation, covering the basic cost of the meals served on Monday, June 11, each and every donation from patrons will be utilized by the café in its mission to fight food insecurity in the High Country.   In addition to sponsoring lunch, Mast Store’s Leadership Team and other staff members will be serving as volunteer servers, cooks, and dishwashers working with the Café staff. According to the Mast Store website, “(we give) back to our communities in three major focus areas – arts, environmental, and human services. We encourage our employees to give their time to groups that they are passionate about by paying for up to 8 hours of volunteer time each year. And, we also have a matching funds program to encourage monetary donations.” Mast Store’s commitment to philanthropy and community service is evidenced by their support of F.A.R.M. Café and other local nonprofits.

“We are very grateful to Lisa Cooper and the Mast General Store Team for their continued support of F.A.R.M. Café and our mission to feed all regardless of means,” said Tommy Brown, who serves as volunteer and development coordinator at the Café. “After more than a year of this day sponsor program with local businesses, groups, and organizations, we are confident that ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ is a win/win opportunity for organizations, businesses, and business leaders who understand the benefit of giving back to the community through support of local non-profit organizations such as F.A.R.M. Café.”

Many businesses, groups, and organizations have participated in the ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ program, including Mast General Store, 4 Forty Four Construction, Appalachian State Diversity Scholars, Boone Drug, Inc., M-Prints, Appalachian Mountain Brewery, Classes and Clubs from ASU, High Country Radio, High Country UCC, Boone Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Combs, Tennent & Carpenter, P.C., and most recently Best Cellar/ The Inn at Ragged Gardens. Upcoming monthly ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ days will be sponsored by Lifestore Bank, Harvest House Church, & Ameriprise Financial along with several of the businesses mentioned above who are sponsoring again. Any business or group that is interested in learning how they can participate is welcome to contact Tommy Brown at F.A.R.M. Cafe.
