BOONE, N.C. (March 23, 2017) — Lunafest, an annual short-film festival, returns to Boone for two days in April to empower women through film. All proceeds will benefit Girls on the Run of the High Country and the Breast Cancer Fund.

Lunafest is a film festival that celebrates the unique, touching and inspirational roles of women in local, national and international communities through a series of nine short films, all produced by female filmmakers.

The first screening will be held Thursday, April 6, at 6:30 p.m. in the Greenbriar Theater of Appalachian State University’s Plemmons Student Union, followed by a Q&A session beginning at 8 p.m.

The second screening will be held Friday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Harvest House Performance Center. Intermission will feature complimentary movie snacks and an auction of the winning pieces from Bra-Va!, a community competition to creatively and festively decorate a bra.

Tickets are $10 for the general public and $7 for students. They can be purchased at the door or online at http://www.lunafest.org/index.php/attend-an-event/28607/75/.
