Landscape Painting Demonstration and Annual Women’s Day at Carlton Gallery on August 25

Carlton Gallery features its annual Women’s Day along with landscape painting demonstrations by Kevin Beck and Linda Apriletti on Saturday, August 25 for the Tour de Art – a monthly event held on the 4th Saturday, June through November.

The Tour de Art is a coalition of galleries and artists’ private studios. Hours are 10 to 5 and maps of the participants are available in the gallery.

The annual Women’s Day features wearable fiber art found in colorful, reversible jackets by Trimdin; knitted ponchos and ruanas in beautiful fall colors by Princy Art Designs; scarves in myriad colors by Banaris; finely crafted jewelry in earrings, necklaces, pendants and bracelets by artisans Don Haywood, Tana Acton and Lisa Kent. Also one of a kind handbags and clutches by Erda and Jeni Housley are an enhancement to one’s wardrobe.  

Gallery artists Kevin Beck and Linda Apriletti plan to demonstrate painting the landscape with oils. Apriletti paints from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Beck paints from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Both are plein air painters whose work depicts the colors, shadows and the changing atmosphere of the landscape. Everyone is invited to view these artists working their craft which is sure to be entertaining as well as informative.

The Mid-Summer Group Exhibition showcasing the standing gallery artists who work in Paintings, Glass, Wood, Clay, Sculpture Wearable Fiber and Jewelry can be viewed during this Tour de Art. The “Spectrum – Beyond Color and Abstraction” exhibition by Andrew Braitman and Lisa Boardwine is ongoing until September 23.

Plan to take the Tour de Art on Saturday, August 25 from 10 to 5 and experience wonderful artistic talent at the various galleries and artists’ studios.

The gallery is located 10 miles south of Boone and 7 miles north of Linville or Banner Elk and 8 miles from Blowing Rock on NC 105 South in the Grandfather Mountain Community. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 to 5 and 11 to 5 on Sunday.
