Halloween is the perfect time to get dressed up and go all out! While the High Country plays host to a wide variety of family-friendly functions, this extravagant holiday is not just for the little ones. Banner Elk Sushi Club: Check out Banner Elk’s favorite hot spot for a late night Halloween costume party from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday. Enjoy free entry to this event with $2 well drinks, cash prizes and a performance from Hilltop Entertainment’s Josiah and 80g. Legends: “Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band” is coming to Legends Halloween night to deliver a rip-roaring performance that is sure to keep its audience shaking. End the Halloween season with this popular Asheville-based group, which returns to the High Country for its annual performance in Boone at 10 pm on Oct. 31. There will also be a competitive costume contest with prizes, so take the chance to dress up in your favorite costume while you’re at it! The Local: Enjoy a free show with Asheville-based quintet The Fritz at 10:30 p.m. on Friday night at The Local Restaurant, 179 Howard St. in downtown Boone. Return for the Halloween Hoorah on Saturday night starting at 10:30 p.m. with Orlando-based DJ RC3 and a costume contest with prizes for the best entries in each category. No cover! Lost Province Brewing Co.: Fun is on tap starting at 5 p.m. on Friday night, with live music from the Worthless Son-in-Laws from 8 p.m. to closing. On Saturday, spend your day with LP and catch the App State football game on the big screen as the Mountaineers take on Troy in the Halloween game. Stick around for live music from Hilltop Riot from 8 p.m. to closing.

Masquerade at Meadowbrook Inn: Have a ball this Halloween! Celebrate the spookiest time of year in style and for a good cause at the inaugural Masquerade Ball to benefit the Hunger and Health Coalition of Boone. This festive inaugural fundraiser will take place at the Meadowbrook Inn, 711 Main St. in Blowing Rock, on Friday, Oct. 30. Show up sporting your favorite costume or buy a mask when you get there.
