DAILY TUNES: The Outdoor Music Scene Banner Elk’s Thursday Night Concerts in the Park Series, this Thursday: Split Shot

By Elly Murray

Daily Tunes will be bringing you live music performances in the High Country area for every day of the week. Get out there and enjoy the cool breezes and relaxing music of summer before it’s over!

Banner Elk was founded in 1848, and since then it has become an extremely busy little town. This summer, the Tate-Evans Park hosts their Banner Elk Concerts in the Park each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the outdoor amphitheatre.

The area surrounding the amphitheater is specifically landscaped for outdoor concerts, in layers almost like theatre seats, so you should bring your own lawn chair to listen to the live music. Although, a blanket might be better, so you can lay out and look up at gorgeous night sky dotted with stars as you listen to incredibly talented North Carolina and regional bands.

You’ll be surrounded by the large number of townsfolk that come out to the park on these charming Thursday nights to socialize. Swap some stories with them—they’ve got some crazy ones—and keep an eye out for the food vendors, available throughout the concert.

Split Shot, an upbeat variety band, will be performing this Thursday in the Tate-Evans Park. Based out of Upstate South Carolina, this lively band performs covers from a wide range of music, including country, rock, rhythm and blues, and beach, just to name a few! They also write a few of their own original songs, and they love to make jokes with the crowd during performances.

Next Thursday, Jocassee will take the stage and blow your minds with a mix of Classic Rock and Southern Rock music.

These concerts are a charming place to take your family for a night of free, inspirational music. They’re also at such a perfect time that you, the kiddos, and Grandma and Grandpa can still make it to bed at a reasonable time. Bring your dancing shoes to at least one concert over the summer!
