What better way to enjoy a weekend in the mountains than with free live music from talented folks in your favorite community park? Bluegrass, old-time, Americana, blues, 70s rock and more are on their way to the High Country for these recurring weekly concert series.

Wolf Creek — Thursday

This five-piece band hails from eastern Tennessee and they’re headed to the High Country to offer up a blend of bluegrass, classic country and rock. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. rain or shine at Tate-Evans Park in Banner Elk. Flat Top Brewing Company and Banner Elk Winery will have drinks for sale.

Adam Pope Band, Buck Haggard Band — Friday

Get ready to get down to the sounds of the Adam Pope Band and the Buck Haggard Band as they play from the front porch of the Jones House Community Center in downtown Boone starting at 5 p.m. on Friday. The Concerts on the Lawn series is a popular way to start your weekend in the High Country!

Soul Benefactor — Friday

The Best Cellar in Blowing Rock welcomes this popular group from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday night. A favorite in the High Country, Soul Benefactor guarantees a good time. Bring a lawn chair and get there early for a good spot. The Best Cellar offers a special lawn menu and a fantastic cash bar.

Dashboard Hula Boys — Friday

Don’t miss the fun! The show starts at 6:30 p.m. at Valle Crucis Community Park. No admission, although $5 donations to the park per person are recommended and appreciated. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets.

Benny Wilson Band — Friday

Check out the Benny Wilson Band from 6-9 p.m. on Friday at the Riverwalk Bandshell and Park in Newland. You’ll be rockin’ and rollin’ with this group and their 70s classic rock tunes. Alternate rain location: rock gym at the Avery school.

The Tillers — Saturday

This Cincinnati-based string band will bring a blend of Americana, old-time and bluegrass music to Cook Memorial Park from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday for another free concert hosted by the Todd Community Preservation Organization. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Food, snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.
