Family Night-Buy any regularly priced pizza and receive one free kid’s meal.

Tuesday May24

5pm-Close Oyster Roast. $12 gets you a bucket of one dozen oysters and house made saltine crackers. Featuring oysters from Bodie Island, NC.

Wednesday May 25

½ Off Beer and Wine Specials.

7pm-9pm Trivia Night: Beginning at 7pm, Lost Province will be hosting Trivia Night. Compete on your own or on a team! The competition gets started at 7pm so come a little early for a pizza and a pint and get your seat!

Thursday May 26

$3.00 Thursday-$3.00 pints on all Lost Province brewed beers (except high gravity).

College Night 7:30pm-Live Music with Alba agus Erinn. Alba agus Erinn is a Celtic band that has its origins at Appalachian State University. The band covers a variety of music in the Celtic genre from the traditions of Scotland, Ireland and some old-time crossover tunes. This music is sure to get at foot tapping and bring the Gael out in everyone. Featuring John Carson on Guitar and Shane Watson on Fiddle.

Friday May 27

7:30pm-Closing Live Music: Analog Poets. Dedicated to providing Flow and Harmony thru Music, the Analog Poets are comprised of Dustin Hofsess- Guitar, Jonathan Priest- Drums, and Ben McPherron- Bass.

Saturday May 28

7:30pm-Closing Live Music: Swing Guitars with Andy Page. Boone’s own gypsy band “Swing Guitars” has been active for almost a decade performing acoustic “Hot Club” style jazz in area restaurants, music festivals and civic concert series. Playing a mix of gypsy jazz standards, swing classics, originals and modern jazz tunes, the acoustic group focuses on the music of Django Reinhardt and other early jazz pioneers. Guitarists Andy Page, Jim Schaller and Jay Brown along with Ben McPherron on bass are experienced musicians widely known to High Country music fans. An evening with Swing Guitars promises a variety of sounds perfect for socializing, eating, drinking and dancing!

Flag Dedication at Caldwell Heritage Museum May 27

The local chapters of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars will be dedicating a new United States flag to the Caldwell Heritage Museum on Friday, May 27th at 1:00 pm. The flag is being presented in memory of Earl Rader 1919-2016, a decorated Caldwell County veteran of WWII. The public is invited to attend the service and visit the Museum afterwards. Admission is free.

Summer Concerts at St. John’s Begin Episcopal Church

St, John’s Episcopal Church opens it’s 2016 Summer Concerts with an Old Time Hymn Sing accompanied by the Holy Cross Vocal and Hand Bell choirs along with some special music of their own.  Concert will be 5:00 pm, Admission of $5:00. children are free.  Bring along a potluck casserole and join concert goers and the musicians for a picnic on the lawn,  St. John’s is located on Herb Thomas Rd., just off Mast Gap Road in Valle Crucis.  (Signs will be posted)  For more information go to wwwholycrossvallecrucis.net and click on the link for St. John’s or call 828-963-4609.

ADULT FINANCIAL LITERACY AT THE LIBRARY: Mend the Spend, June 3

The Watauga County Public Library would like to invite you to join us for the next in a series of Financial Literacy Workshops for adults on June 3rd from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

Presenter: Dr. Tracy Reed, Associate Professor in Accounting at Appalachian State University.

This month’s focus will be on getting our financial house in order. Specifically, we will learn or refresh our knowledge of financial skills such as budgeting, saving, smart-spending, judicious borrowing, and establishing financial goals. A variety of print and online resources will be discussed and demonstrated as tools to help us achieve our financial goals.

Swim Complex Closed for Repairs Until May 29, Reopens May 30

The Watauga Swim Complex will be closed Monday, May 23rdthrough Sunday, May 29, 2016 for scheduled maintenance and building repair.

The pool will reopen on Monday, May 30, 2016.

App State Memorial Day Ceremony

Appalachian State University will hold a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 30 at 9:00 a.m. at the Veterans’ Memorial on the west side of the Dougherty Administration Building. The public is invited to attend.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Dougherty Administration Building.

Activities include a flag-raising ceremony followed by a brief program. A reception will take place in the administration building lobby following the ceremony.

At 11:00 a.m. in the Boone Mall, the High Country Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America will hold a ceremony, to which the university community, as well as the public, is invited.
