Wilkes Playmakers and Alleghany Community Theatre to Host Murder Mystery May 6-7

Wilkes Playmakers are partnering with Alleghany Community Theatre of Sparta to bring a special event to Benton Hall.  Alleghany Community Theatre ( ACT) will bring their production of the audience -participation murder mystery  Irritation to Murder by Lee Mueller to Benton Hall on May 6th and 7th at 7 pm each evening.  This will be a dessert theatre with scrumptious desserts, coffees and teas served in the Great Hall.

Irritation to Murder is a two-act comedy murder mystery. Godfry Gatewood, multi-millionaire and financial whiz, is having a very bad day. But nonetheless, his wife Beatrice has invited guests to dinner and his daughter Summer wants him to meet her new fiance Phillip. His other daughter Autumn has been suspended from boarding school for being too political  and prefers the company of her like-minded friend Herbert to that of anyone to whom she is related. Godfry’s personal assistant Farquar is upset because the family refers to him as a butler. His administrative assistant Rachael is upset because the family refers to her as a secretary.  Everyone is at odds and under pressure until – you guessed it – someone turns up dead.  Former detective Nick Dashell and his wife Darla, who just happen to be part of the family, begin to unravel the mystery with the help of the audience.

Alleghany Community Theatre has a great show and Wilkes Playmakers have a great space to showcase it while providing our patrons an evening of laughter, suspense and yummy desserts.  Proceeds from this special event will benefit both community theatre organizations.  Building partnerships and support for all community theatres in the region is an integral part of the vision of Wilkes Playmakers.  We have already benefited from participation of fellow actors and theatre technicians from Wilkes and surrounding counties in recent Wilkes Playmaker productions and we strive to build even stronger connections in the future.  As a matter of fact, the ACT cast for Irritation to Murder includes an actress who has performed with Wilkes Playmakers in the past as well as a young actress who will make her Playmaker debut in the upcoming production of Peter Pan !
ACT cast includes Michael “Poss” Hamm, Lily Nilo,  Jasper Price, Kevin Bennett, Kelaiya LeMasters Davis, Trent Chappell, Jesse McCall, Donny McCall, Crystal Billings and Bridgette Sturgill.    Many of these performers have professional training as well as experience, having  performed in a variety of stage and film productions.

Seating is limited for this special event.  All tickets are $15 and include the show and desserts.  Tickets may be purchased in advance online at www.wilkesplaymakers.com  or may be purchased at the box office one hour prior to showtimes depending upon availability.  For further information, please email wilkesplaymakers2013@outlook.com or call 336-838-7529 and leave a message.    All performances are at Benton Hall, 300 D Street, North Wilkesboro.
