Ted Budd Wins United States Senate Seat in North Carolina

November 9, 2022 In the race for the United States Senate seat from North Carolina, results from all 2,655 voting precincts in the state’s 100 counties (including one-stop early and absentee votes) for the November 8 General Election are final. Republican Ted Budd, North Carolina’s 13th congressional district representative (which covers the North-Central part of the state), won the senate race.  Budd got 1,891,342 votes state-wide. State Board to Randomly Select Precincts for Post-Election Accuracy Checks

November 9, 2022 Raleigh, N.C. — The State Board of Elections on Wednesday, November 9, will randomly select precincts, early voting sites, and absentee-by-mail ballots to be counted by hand as part of a statutorily required post-election audit. The random selection of voting groups to be counted by hand in each county will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 9. The public is invited to attend the random selection in the Board Room, State Board of Elections office, Third Floor, Dobbs Building, 430 N. Salisbury St., Raleigh.

2022 Avery County General Election Results: All Candidates for County Offices Ran Unopposed

November 9, 2022 Avery County offices on the 2022 General Election ballot included: County Commission, Sheriff, Clerk of Superior Court and Soil and Water District Supervisor. Seven candidates combined ran for those four offices.  They included three for County Commission, two for Soil and Water District Supervisor and one each for Sheriff and Clerk of Superior Court. With three seats open in the County Commissioners race, Robert Burleson received the highest number of votes with 4,484. Incumbents Wood Hall (Woodie) Young, Jr. and Dennis Aldridge followed with the next highest voting numbers.  Young, Jr. received 4,281 votes, while Aldridge garnered 4,256. By Tim Gardner

Massive General Election Turnout Expected Tuesday, Nov. 8 in Avery County as Early Voting Numbers Shatter Records

November 7, 2022 Like what is expected elsewhere across America, one of the largest mid-term (non-presidential year) voter turnouts ever is expected in Avery County for the 2022 General Election on Tuesday, November 8. 2022 Early Voting in Avery County Begins October 20th; Voting Regulations, Preview, and Sample Ballot Listed

October 17, 2022 The time period for early voting in Avery County for the 2022 General Election begins on Thursday, October 20 and runs through Saturday, November 5. Saturdays and Sundays are excluded, except for Saturday, November 5 when early voting will also be open. All Early Voting in the county must be done at the Avery County Senior Citizens Center, located at 165 Schultz Street in downtown Newland.  By Tim Gardner
