Public schools are operating on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, March 2, because of the weather. Avery County Schools said the delay was because of black ice developing on the roadways in the county.

Watauga County Schools said buses are running regular routes, and Avery County Schools didn’t note otherwise.

“We will continue to monitor roads this morning to make sure they are safe for travel.

Have a wonderful day and thank you for caring about the safety of our students,” ACS posted on its website.
