April 5, 2012. According to Boone Police Department Sergeant Matt Stevens, two Watauga High School students were charged Wednesday, suspected of participating in a criminal gang. The investigation into this incident continues and additional charges may be forthcoming.
April 3, 2012. The Boone Police Department reports the arrest of Carl Pottschmidt, age 41 of Conover, and Michael Mehaffey, age 41 of Claremont. Their arrest resulted from a citizen complaint of possible shoplifting at Walgreens on Sunday, April 1.
April 2, 2012. Sheriff Len D. Hagaman, Jr. reports that on March 29, 2012, at 8:01 p.m. Watauga County Sheriff’s Office received a report in reference to a shooting at 996 South Road, Todd.
March 18, 2012. Tyler Coty Delp, 19, of Deep Gap was arrested on Thursday, March 15, following a shooting in Boone on Howards Creek Road on March 12.
March 18, 2012. On Thursday, March 15, 2012 Officers from the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit, the Boone Police Department Narcotics Unit, the NC State Bureau of Investigation, and Federal Agents with the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) arrested five suspects stemming from a coordinated Federal, State and Local narcotics investigation.
March 14, 2012. Includes photos and video! On March 10 at approximately 5:45 p.m. two women entered the shopping center at 641 West King St. Once inside, they are seen on surveillance video filling a previously empty bag with items they did not purchase.
March 13, 2012. The former band director at Ashe County High School faces three charges of taking indecent liberties with a student. The Ashe County Sheriff said an investigation began over a month ago.
March 13, 2012. On February 11, 2012 a white male entered Lowe’s Hardware in Boone and made a large purchase using a counterfeit check. The account information was stolen from a Granite Falls address.
March 13, 2012. An investigation was conducted by the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office in reference to the shooting. The white SUV was located and a search was conducted on the vehicle. As a result of the investigation and the search of the white SUV two individuals were charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury.
March 12, 2012. Includes Incident Report! Daniel Wesley Miller, 33, of 178 Jake Miller Rd., Boone, was shot just after midnight, March 12. There are two suspects connected to the incident and their names have not been released by the Watauga County Sheriff’s Department.
March 9, 2012. Danny Tim Wilson, 61, a candidate for Watauga County Board of Commissioners, was charged last night with driving while impaired, felony hit and run and multiple other charges.
March 8, 2012. BOONE — Boone Police have charged an Iredell County man in connection with 22 business breaking and entering cases.
March 7, 2012. Includes Photo Gallery & Video! Just before 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, March 7, and unknown man robbed the Walmart in Boone. Surveillance video shows the man, wearing a mask, enter the store and shop for approximately one hour before approaching one of the registers with merchandise. After the clerk scanned the items the man produced a pistol and took money from the register before fleeing on foot.
Feb. 29, 2012. Brooklyn Lacrossa Canter, age 18 of Zionville, turned herself in to Boone Police and was charged with one misdemeanor count of aiding and abetting.
