On October 13, 2014 at approximately 11:30 p.m., ASU Police received a call to assist a student in distress behind her residence hall. It is difficult to provide suggestions on how to take preventative steps to reduce the risk of similar situations when the reported perpetrator is known to you. Unfortunately, although the majority of assaults are perpetrated by friends, acquaintances, or partners of the victims, the majority of prevention tips are modeled after perpetrators that are unknown to the victim. Recognizing this, and recognizing that, ultimately, it is not the responsibility of the victim to prevent their own assault, we offer the following advice to promote general risk awareness:

  • To protect yourself, always be aware of your surroundings, trust your instincts and immediately notify ASU Police at 828-262-2150 if you are concerned for your safety.
  • If you feel your safety is at risk, online casino canada or need assistance or an escort on campus; please contact ASU Police at 828-262-2150.
  • Stay with groups of friends you know and trust.
  • Trust your instincts and if you see a person of concern, immediately notify ASU Police. By taking action, you might be saving lives.
