Charges Filed Against Two App Students, Domestic Dispute Involving Stabbing

Mitchell_Gray_Preston Ariana_Maria_ZertucheOn Jan. 26, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Boone Police responded to a reported stabbing at 523 Blowing Rock Road, unit #25. When officers arrived, they located Mitchell Gray Preston, 22, of Williams Ridge Road, Boone, suffering from a stab wound. Mr. Preston was transported to Watauga Medical Center for treatment.

As a result of a follow-up investigation, it was determined that a domestic dispute had taken place resulting in Mr. Preston being stabbed. Arianna Maria Zertuche, 21, of 523 Blowing Rock Road, unit #25, Boone, NC, was charged with Misdemeanor Assault with a Deadly Weapon. She was taken before a Watauga County Magistrate where she was remanded to the Watauga County Detention Facility pending a March 3, 2016, appearance in Watauga District Court.

Mr. Preston was charged with Misdemeanor Assault on a Female for his actions during the domestic dispute. He was taken before a Watauga County Magistrate where he was remanded to the Watauga County Detention Facility pending a March 3, 2016, appearance in Watauga District Court.

Neither party received a bond due to the domestic nature of the incident. Both individuals indicated they are Appalachian State University students.
