Winter is Coming! Enjoy Preseason Discounts on Clothes, Gear at App Ski Mtn. Oct. 16-25

By Jessica Isaacs

Temperatures are dropping, seasons are changing and winter will be here before you know it! With colder weather comes a whole new way to enjoy the High Country, and the folks at Appalachian Ski Mountain are working hard to prepare for you a new season of fun in the snow.

The ski area’s upcoming 2015-16 season is slated to begin on Nov. 20, the Friday before Thanksgiving, and carry through the winter ending on April 2. If you, too, are getting things in order to spend the snowy days on the slopes at ASM, you don’t want to miss the ski shop’s annual Preseason Sale, set for Oct. 16-25.preseason_sale_card-copy-600x440

Make your way to ASM for 10 days of great deals on 2015 inventory and get discounts of up to 70 percent off on clothing, equipment and accessories you need for the winter.

“It’s a great time to get things before winter is started and there are really good deals on really nice brand name things like ski and snowboard equipment, clothing, helmets, gloves and more,” said Ski Shop Manager Brenda Speckmann, part of the family who owns and operates the ski mountain. “Kids outgrow things, so it’s a great time for families to come in and buy new clothing and equipment before it gets cold and before the season starts.”

The sale offers you the perfect opportunity for great buys on your favorite winter brands, including Burton, 686, Mountain Hardwear, Spyder, Obermeyer, Nordica, Roxy, Salomon, K2, Atomic, Rossignol, Volcom, Never Summer, Ride, 4Fmt, Line, Northwave, Gnu, Libtech and more.

Some used skis, snowboards, boots and poles will be available for purchase at the sale through this year’s Ski/Snowboard swap. The ski shop is no longer accepting used items, however.

Sale hours between Oct. 16-25 include:

  • Monday through Thursday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Fridays: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sundays: 1-5 p.m.

While you’re shopping the sale, enter the raffle for a chance to win a season pass, a typical value of more than $400.

The sale is one of many ways the ski area is getting ready for the upcoming season, including the construction of a brand new welcome center and entrance sign.

The folks behind ASM look forward to spending the winter with you and encourage you to hit the slopes with your friends and family this year.

“Skiing and snowboarding is one of the few sports that families can enjoy together on the snow,” Speckmann said.

The sale begins Friday, so shop early to get your gear before it’s all gone!
