May 13, 2013. The Blockbuster in Boone is closing at the end of the month.
Barbara Ellis, the director of marketing for Blockbuster, confirmed the upcoming closing is due to sale of the property. However, she wouldn’t divulge the name of the purchaser.
“It is still confidential at this time,” she wrote in an email.
“For Sale or Lease” signs were posted around March.
At that time, Ellis said that the Boone Blockbuster wouldn’t be among the 300 Blockbuster stores closing nationwide.
Currently, the store is liquidating all of its merchandise. When asked over the phone about the current discounts, the manager said, “We have so many, you just have to come in to find out.”
