Watauga County Farmers’ Market Requesting Feedback from Customers; Local Food Available Year-Round

By Paul T. Choate

wataugafarmersmarket_logo_tex_lgtDec. 20, 2012. Now that the 2012 Watauga County Farmers’ Market season has wound to a close, they are requesting feedback from customers to better help them prepare for next season via a short online survey.

Topics covered in the survey include questions pertaining to advertising, satisfaction with the 2012 market, how much time and money people spent at WCFM and also whether or not the High Country community would be willing to support a year-round market.

To view the survey, click here.

Even though the market is now closed, people can still order local food from High Country Community Sponsored Agriculture (HCCSA) and from Mountain Memories Farm.

The HCCSA catalog is opened twice a month (Tuesday to Tuesday for Saturday delivery) with pickups from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Agriculture Conference Center off Poplar Grove in downtown Boone. To view the HCCSA catalog, visit highcountrycsa.org/catalog.

Mountain Memories Farm has delivery services all winter long. Local food available includes: lamb, beef (steaks, roasts and ground), pork sausage and tenderloin, goat, Cornish chicken and eggs; for the winter veggies they have potatoes (red, yukon gold and kennebec), collard greens, and a variety of radishes, turnips and acorn squash. To sign up for weekly deliverys on Thursdays, email Mountain Memories Farm at mark.dawnrhudy@yahoo.com

Also, be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, May 4, 2013 — opening day for the WCFM 2013 season.
