May 21, 2013. The Watauga Community Band (WCB) holds its annual Memorial Day Concert this Sunday, May 26, at 3:00 p.m. The free concert will be performed in Rosen Hall in the Hayes School of Music on the campus of ASU.

The band was founded in 1986 and is solely compiled of volunteer members of the local community as well as ASU students. Unlike many other bands, WCB welcomes any level of experience with no fee to participate.

Bill Winkler, the bands director, plans a patriotic lineup of eight songs for the concert.

As well as support for the U.S. Military, the WCB wants to “take the time to honor any band member, former and current, who has served in the Armed Forces,” WCB’s Allison Walsh said.

As a way to incorporate audience participation, the listeners will be invited to sing along to the Jerry Brubaker arrangement known as The Ultimate Patriotic Sing-Along.

Band member Allison Walsh said that the lyrics to the special sing-along piece are located in the program. The song contains many easy and well-known songs such as Battle Hymn of the Republic and God Bless the USA
