Aug 30, 2013. Do you like getting a little muddy? The Inaugural Mountaineer Mud Run may be exactly what you’re looking for.
On Sept. 14, 2013, the High Country Fairgrounds will play host to the Mountaineer Mud Run in its first ever year in the High Country.
The run will be a demanding physical effort for all participants, individual or in teams, to race through more than three miles of muddy terrain, featuring climbing obstacles, rivers, mud pits and much more. This challenging course is sure to dirty up even the most seasoned of mud run veterans.
“We are hoping to get around 1,000 people to come out this year,” said Kenny Johnson, who is coordinating the event.
But this event isn’t all about the run. The Mountaineer Mud Run comes complete with its own festival, featuring live music, food and lots of fun.
“We haven’t quite decided on the bands yet, but it is going to be local Boone entertainment,” said Johnson.
The Inaugural Mountaineer Mud Run is sure to bring in the crowds to the High Country Fairgrounds. More than 1,000 people are expected to attend this event in its very first year, including athletes, spectators and festival-goers. No pets will be allowed at the event. There will also be parking available at no extra cost.
Camping is also available at the High Country Fairgrounds for a $10 camping fee.
Athletes can compete as individuals or as a member of a four-person team. Single racers will cost $40.00 prior to August 15th; and $50 from Aug. 16 through Wednesday, Sept. 11. Teams of four will cost $160 prior to Aug. 15 and $200 from from Aug. 16 through Wednesday, Sept. 11. Single racers can join any team or can be assigned a team through our registration company. Teams or individuals can register online by clicking here. There will be no registration available at the event itself.
All participants can expect to begin sometime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the day of the event.
As with the Boone Bike Rally, this event will be for a good cause. Event coordinators are currently working to team up with a local non-profit organization to donate money to, from proceeds raised at the event.
