June 25, 2013. Though the final numbers are not yet in, the inaugural Siren Mountain Jam proved to be a success.
The music festival, which took place on June 21 and 22, was a celebration of women’s music and art.
“I think that it was a huge success,” said Beth Carroll of Sonic Yonic productions, who coordinated the event.
“The talent and the art were just amazing, and everyone seemed to be having a great time.”
Though final counts have not been completed, Carroll said that there were close to 1,000 people in attendance at the event, with presale tickets accounting for about 500 participants.
“We had no idea what to expect, but we were very happy with the turnout,” Carroll said.
With some of the best weather yet this summer, hundreds of festival-goers came to the High Country Fairgrounds to enjoy a dozen musical acts, over 30 artist vendors, a healing arts village, workshops, food vendors with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options and on-site camping.
The healing arts village included yoga, enneagram, hoop movement, tarot card reading, bellydancing, matrix energetics, Tai Chi and many others for guests to enjoy.
Plans are already in the works for another Siren Mountain Jam to take place next summer.
“We learned a lot this time around, and it went remarkably smoothly for our first time,” said Carroll. “Next year we want to work to make it even better.”
For next year, fundraisers are in the works to raise money for the second Siren Mountain Jam.
Carroll said that the event could not have happened were it not for the dedicated volunteers and the tireless efforts of many members of staff.
“The volunteers were such a tremendous help,” Carroll said.
“They were so awesome. It couldn’t have happened without the volunteer effort that was donated to us. Folks really pulled together to make things work.”
The coordinators would like to mention Grace Harrison, Tasha Mehne, Rachel Strickland and Walt Reis as a huge essential part of the event coordination in multiple areas.
“And thanks to everyone who came out and supported the event,” said Carroll. “We are grateful to all who came out to make it so successful.”
