June 21, 2013. Saturday, June 22, marks the Beech Mountain ClimbMax endurance run. The demanding 5K and 10K courses are designed to challenge runners of all skill levels and to provide a scenic and memorable run through the beautiful views of Beech Mountain.

MastheadClimbMax_2013Both courses will start out at 5057 feet in elevation near the Town Hall. From that starting point, the first couple of miles will take runners on a 400 foot altitude descent on the Beech Mountain Parkway. From there, athletes will run toward the beautiful local restaurants, the ski village and the golf course and continuing from that point the 10K route continues on a steep uphill climb of over 800 feet in altitude to over 5,400 feet. Here, the course changes direction several times to provide excellent views of the marvelous and astounding scenery around Beech Mountain.

The changes in elevation are sure to challenge any athlete, and the beautiful views will make it all worth it.

The 5K route instead turns off of the main parkway and follows rolling hills before finally going back through the parkway and into the end of the course.

Also available is a pet-friendly 1.5 mile fun walk that is great for the entire family. During the 2013 ClimbMAX, there is something for everyone.
