Taste and Learn About the Culture of N.C. Distilleries at Spirit of Avery Event Tonight; Tickets Still Available

Aug. 29, 2013. North Carolina is known for a lot of things. Beautiful scenery, rich cultural history and so much more. But did you know that there are 13 distilleries in North Carolina, each with their own rich heritage and culture? What could make a better evening than sipping spirits, chatting with friends and learning about North Carolina distilleries while enjoying the beautiful, rustic scenery of Linville and listening to live music?

adrotate-outThe Spirit of Avery Distillery Tasting event will allow guests to taste spirits from many local distilleries, while at the same time learning about the history and culture of each one. Liquor production has a rich and interesting history, especially in the south, so come out and have a taste. 

This inaugural event, held at Camp Yonahnoka at Eseeola Lodge located off of Yonahnoka Road in Linville from 5-7 p.m., will give guests a unique opportunity to sample an array of products from state-wide distilleries. Products offered for tasting will include brandy, gin, rum and bourbon. While tasting these unique spirits, guests will also enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres from Eseeola Lodge. 

There are 13 recognized distilleries in North Carolina. Many of those have committed to the Spirit of Avery event. Distilleries participating include:

  • Tobacco Road Distillers
  • Broadslab Distillery
  • Petzold Distillery 
  • Blue Ridge Distillery 
  • Muddy River Distillery
  • Johnson Brothers Distillery
  • Carolina Distillery
  • …and more!

Tickets for the event are $25 and are available through the Avery County Chamber of Commerce. 

Didn’t purchase your ticket in advance? No problem, tickets will be available at the event.

“We already showcase breweries and wineries, what better way to show off North Carolina than to bring people to beautiful Avery County to showcase distilleries too?” said Sue Freeman of the Avery Chamber of Commerce.

Light entertainment in the form of banjo music will also be available.
