March 4, 2013. March Madness officially kicked off today at Sugar Mountain Resort and Beech Mountain Resort. It’s looking like a great week for skiing and snowboarding and the discounts offered at Sugar and Beech are going to make it that much better.
At Sugar, skiers and snowboarders can delight in 25 percent savings on lift tickets, rental equipment and lessons for the remainder of the ski season. Plus Winter Value Packages are discounted 40 percent; making March skiing and riding more attractive than ever.
Starting today, Beech Mountain Resort will be offering weekday pricing seven days a week, through the remainder of the season. Additionally, the resort will offer one free youth (12 and under) ticket with the purchase of one paid adult ticket. Customers can also enjoy 25 percent off of rental equipment. With a 42 to 84 inch base, favorable temperatures and a nice mix of snow and sun in the forecast for this week, you couldn’t ask for better conditions to get out and hit the slopes.
There also lots of events planned during the month of madness.
On Saturday, March 9, Beech Mountain Resort will be hosting a slopestyle competition. The entry fee is $15 with registration open from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in Roots Ride Shop. The event itself begins at 11:00 a.m. Discounted lift tickets will be available to competitors. The ski and snowboard divisions are as follows: GROM 13 and under, Youth 14 – 17, Men’s and Women’s Open. Cash and product prizes will be awarded.
On Sunday, March 10, Sugar Mountain Resort celebrate the life of the late Dick Trundy, a decorated Marine Corps General and aviator who served as Sugar Mountain Resort’s Director of Operations after his retirement from the service. The Dick Trundy Sugar Cup Giant Slalom competition is a NASTAR style competition open to skiers and snowboarders from the age of four to seniors 65 years and up. Event registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with racing starting at 9 am on Big Red. One-hundred percent of all $15 entry fees goes to the American Cancer Society. Additional donations are always appreciated.
On Sunday, March 17, Sugar Mountain hosts the Seventh Annual Easter Egg Hunt right on the slopes. Dress up in your Easter Best costume and join Sugar Bear and Sweetie Bear on the snow in search of prize-filled eggs. Hundreds of colorful plastic eggs will be spread over the Lower Flying Mile slope within view of the lodge. One lucky skier or snowboarder will find an egg containing a 2013-2014 Sugar Mountain season pass. The Easter egg hunt is free for all children 12 and under with a valid lift/slope ticket, or pass. The event begins at 9 a.m. at the bottom of the No. 1 Summit lift.
And finally, while you’re at Sugar, stop by the Sugar Mountain Sports Shop for the annual Spyder Sample Sale. All 2014 Spyder Sample apparel is 30 percent off retail prices. Remaining 2013 Spyder Sample items are just half price and any remaining 2012 samples are slashed 60 percent off of original retail prices. Quantities and sizes are limited so don’t miss out.
