May 3, 2012. Hospitality House and Goodwill Industries will host the “Struttin’ Our Stuff” Fashion Show at Courtyard Mariott in Boone on Thursday, May 3, beginning at 6 p.m.

The show will feature vintage, classic, couture and current fashions from Goodwill and will include a silent auction, hors d’oevres, a cash bar and the opportunity to bid on and take home the runway fashions.

Boone Mayor Loretta Clawson, Banner Elk Mayor Brenda Lyerly, Beech Mountain Mayor Rick Owen, Blowing Rock Mayor J.B. Lawrence, Boone Councilwoman Lynne Mason, Ronald and Gwen Dhing, owners of Makoto’s, and Father David Brzoska, of the Saint Elizabeth of the Hill Country Catholic Church in Boone, will attend. The “Mayoral Pose-Off” will begin at 7:30 p.m.

“The outfit Lynn Mason will be wearing is really nice and summery,” said Director of Services at the Hospitality House Tina Krause. “I wouldn’t be surprised if she bid on her own outfit.”

The Hospitality House invited mayors from surrounding towns as part of their outreach. They want other counties to be aware of services available. Boone’s Hospitality House serves seven counties in the Northwest NC region but about 50 percent of their services serve Watauga County, Krause said.

About 40 local “celebrity” models will be working with local salons to get their hair and makeup ready for the show, Krause said.

The event will benefit the Hospitality House and will commemorate their new partnership with Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina working together on workforce development and donation coordination. It’s also a celebration for Goodwill Industry’s fifth anniversary in Boone.

About 150 tickets have been sold as of press time, Krause said.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Robert Charles Salon, M-Prints, Hospitality House or at the door.

“It’s going to be a night of fun,” Krause said.
