Aug. 30, 2013. The Spirit of Avery Distillery Tasting Event, which took place last night at Camp Yonahnoka, was a massive success.
The event, which was sponsored by the Avery County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Eseeola Lodge and the Municipal High Country ABC Store in Banner Elk, allowed High Country residents to sample a vast array of spirits from statewide sources. Eseeola Lodge provided appetizers for the event, which boasted over 60 guests in attendance.
“Everyone really enjoyed the event,” said Sue Freeman of the Avery County Chamber of Commerce
“The venue was beautiful, the food was great, the people were excited and the distilleries were fantastic. The best part was each distillery had a unique story, and everyone there found their new favorite drink!”
From brandy, to gin, rum and more, the distilleries came out with gusto to serve up their unique products. And the best part? The event did so well that next year’s event is already in the works.
“We will most likely keep the same venue, and hopefully we will get even more distilleries!” Freeman said.
“But for now, I’ve found my new favorite.”
But this event was about a lot more than just tasting spirits.
“This was a great educational opportunity to learn the legacy of each distillery and their process for making the spirits.” Freeman said.
