Safety Tips and Rules: Turkey Season and Spring Fishing Underway

April 17, 2013. Turkey season began Saturday (April 13) in North Carolina and runs until May 11. This means hunters across the state are heading to the woods and fields in an attempt to bag a gobbler.

Whether you’re a hunter or non-hunter, there are some simple safety tips you can follow to make sure you and others stay safe during hunting season. For example, wear blaze orange when in the national forests. A complete list of safety tips is posted online here.

Hunters and anglers must have the proper licenses and know the regulations when recreating in the national forests. The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission website gives hunters and anglers (as well as trappers) all the information they need. For more information, click here.

Have fun and stay safe this spring!
