May 20, 2013. Rock Dimensions in downtown Boone will once again be hosting their kids summer camps to introduce children to the world of rock climbing.
Since 2005, Rock Dimensions has offered these camps to resident and visiting children to help them get outside and have a good time.
Each year, Rock Dimensions hosts two camps during the summer. The Climbing and Adventure camp, for kids aged 8 and up, gives kids a chance to learn about many different activities that are unique to the High Country. This camp includes rock climbing on the climbing tower at Footsloggers, rappelling, caving and a ropes course with a zip line and a giant swing.
The camp will also take expeditions to climb on real rocks at many different high country climbing hot-spots.
The intermediate climbing camp, which is recommended for kids 11 years and older, is for kids who have a little bit of experience already.
Campers will learn about climbing styles like top-roping, single and multi pitch, bouldering and much more. At the end of the week, campers will enjoy a ropes course.
In both camps, campers will enjoy a small camper to instructor ratio, allowing for lots of individualized attention for each camper to ensure that each child gets the most out of their climbing camp experience.
“Our camps are small, which a lot of parents appreciate,” said Jenny Allen of Rock Dimensions. “We make sure that kids do not get lost in the crowd. We staff our camps based on the number of kids that we have participating.”
This summer, there are two camp sessions running from July 15-19 and July 19- August 2.
Campers are asked to bring their own lunches, snacks, water and appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors. All transportation for the campers is provided.
“These camps are designed for kids to have fun and love being outside,” said Allen.
