The folks behind Recess, Boone’s go-to destination for all things snowboarding and skateboarding, will bring the outdoor winter sports community together with the shop’s annual video premiere and raffle contest on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Recess Skate and Snow, located at 1158 N.C. Highway 105 in Boone, has provided product selections for local skateboarders and snowboarders since its inception in 2009. At 7:30 p.m. at Boone Saloon on King Street, locals have the opportunity to celebrate its six-year existence for the shop’s annual snowboarding-focused party.
“It’s always a good excuse to get the snowboarding community together and get out and have a good time,” said shop owner J.P. Pardy.
The event will be free and open to all ages until 10 p.m.
“That way, the young kids can hang out and watch the video, but it will be only 21 and up after 10,” Pardy said.
At this year’s event, ThirtyTwo, a snowboarding company, will premiere the brand’s first ever team movie, in which every team member will have their own part. Additionally, Recess will offer a raffle contest to partygoers. Prizes include day passes to Beech Mountain Resort, Speakeasy Tattoo Company and Recess gift certificates and Pabst Blue Ribbon Vans shoes.
Raffle tickets priced at $1 each will be available at Recess starting on Monday, Oct. 19 and the night of the event at Boone Saloon.
The party serves as a celebration of the shop’s anniversary, its also a chance to get local snowboarders excited about the upcoming snow season.
“The premiere means means that it won’t be long until snowboarding starts,” Pardy said.
