March 27, 2013. Last year on March 27, the skies were blue and the temperature was 63 degrees high in Boone, according to historical data from Ray’s Weather. Imagine how many folks were dining outside in the nice weather. This year is a bit different; see the snowman pictured above at Proper in downtown Boone waiting to greet customers on chilly day with the high in the 30s.
Today, snow covers the ground, and the high today is one of the lowest – if not the lowest – high temperatures for a March 27th in Boone in the past 20 years.
Soon, though, folks will be walking in sandals and shirts and summer dresses and having drinks and eating good meals and feeling merry outside on the patios of some of the High Country’s finest establishments – with no memory of the winter weather until Halloween sneaks up on us once again.
