March 25, 2014. The NC Beer Guys – Carolina Glenn and Dave – drink beer produced in the state and share their opinions of the brew online. Its most recent review is of the canned All Nighter – an Oatmeal Coffee Stout that was brewed as a collaboration between Howard Brewing Company in Lenoir and Ivory Tower Brewery.

Ivory Tower Brewery  supports education and research in the fermentation sciences and supports the fermentation science program at ASU.

Check the YouTube review below.

The All Nighter was described by those at Ivory Tower Brewery, according to NC Beer Guys, as “our homage to those long coffee fueled nights studying for all the chemistry, biology and fermentation exams that are the bane of every fermentation science student. With a creamy full body, this chocolatey oatmeal stout infused with locally roasted coffee [from Bald Guy Brew] will make you realize that supporting education and research has never tasted so good.”

Kinney Baughman, who participated on the project, said in an email that he “loves the NC Beer Guys enthusiasm for beer, in general, and the All Nighter, in particular.”

As for the All Nighter, Baughman said, “It is a very good beer, well-balanced and imminently drinkable.”

Baughman added, “Howard Brewing is to be commended for collaborating with us on this project. They are without a doubt brewing some of the best beer in NC and we’re proud to be associated with them.  And, of course, we love working with Bald Guy.  Don’s a class guy, a homebrewer in his own right and we all know he’s one of the best coffee roasters in the business. He’s been an avid supporter of Ivory Tower from its inception so we’re always looking for ways to work with and support him.”

So far, the All Nighter is in limited production so the distribution is scarce. Baughman noted that Boone Saloon had a pouring two week ago, and the only keg of All Nighter went dry in about an hour.

In the future, Peabody’s is expected to the carry the beer, but the distribution details haven’t been publicized yet.
