Feb. 27, 2013. Mast General Store was honored by the United Way of NC at its annual meeting in Pinehurst on Feb. 15, 2013 with the Spirit of North Carolina Award for Campaign Excellence. Accepting the Award in Pinehurst on behalf of Mast General Store were Lisa Cooper Martin, Sheri Moretz and Mary Wood.
Nominated by Linda Slade, Executive Director of High Country United Way, Mast General Store employees were recognized for their employee participation in United Way giving, corporate leadership and generous community spirit through time and talent.
“Exciting,” remarked Mary Wood, manager of the Original Store in Valle Crucis and Mast campaign chair. “This is truly an honor.” “Mast General Store leadership and employees have been so very generous to High Country United Way over the years. They so deserved this recognition,” said Linda Slade of the award.
Extremely competitive, The Spirit of North Carolina Awards for Campaign Excellence is sponsored annually by the United Way of North Carolina. The Spirit Awards provide statewide recognition for outstanding commitment and support to communities through local United Way involvement. The Spirit Committee judged 70 outstanding submissions from Fortune 500 companies, organizations, governmental entities, healthcare and educational institutions, as well as businesses large and small. Awards were presented to 43 companies and/or organizations.
Organizations and companies were judged on a variety of criteria outlined in the Spirit of North Carolina Standards of Excellenceincluding leadership giving, volunteerism, employee participation and giving levels, year-round education, corporate support, incentive programs, and campaign rallies just to name a few.
