Linemen With Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corp. Fully Restore Power From Ice Storm

Feb. 27, 2013. Linemen with Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation had power fully restored by 6:30 p.m. after today’s icy weather caused trees to fall on power lines and affect electricity to 5,000 cooperative members.

FIXE_0126Outages began occurring at 6 a.m. and continued throughout the day until temperatures began warming at mid-day and afternoon. Winds gusts are forecast for tonight in the Blue Ridge service area and members are asked to be prepared if outages occur tonight. The fastest way to report an outage is by calling the cooperative’s PowerLine at 1-800-448-2383.
