Feb. 12, 2014. There’s still time to RSVP! The Blowing Rock Art Museum invites you to celebrate Mardi Gras in the Mountains sponsored by the Blue Ridge Mountain Club on Saturday, Feb. 22, with RSVP due by Feb. 17.
From 7-10 p.m., join the Blowing Rock Museum in the first annual fundraiser including Dixieland Jazz, Cajun Food and a masquerade-themed party, so be sure to bring your mask!
The event will include a cash bar for wine and specialty beer, and guests in attendance will receive one complimentary signature cocktail in a souvenir Hurricane cup.
This event is a fundraiser to benefit the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum. Admission is $50 and RSVP is required by Feb. 17.
“This is the first time we have done this event, and we are hoping to make it an annual event to have every year,” said Allison Wonsick of the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum.
“We are a part of the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce’s February initiative to bring more business into Blowing Rock for the month. We really wanted to throw a fun party and Mardi Gras is the perfect excuse!”
The Masquerade party is also sponsored by Monkee’s in Blowing Rock, but additional sponsors are still being sought.
“Anyone who is interested in participating can get in touch with me and we can get them started,” Wonsick said.
Live music for the event will be provided by the Southern Fried Jazz Quartet from Charlotte, who will be bringing with them the Cajun spirit of Mardi Gras.
In addition, guests are encouraged to make “shoebox float” to use as a centerpiece for their tables. Decorated shoeboxes will be judged for prizes throughout the night.
If you need a shoebox to make your float, just stop by Monkee’s in Blowing Rock to get one.
Remember to RSVP before Feb. 17 to ensure you get a spot! To purchase tickets, call the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum at 828-295-9099.
