Boone-based outdoor and sports photographer Ralph Wood experienced a serious problem, time and time again over the past several years: Showing his clients their photos in outdoor settings proved to be nearly impossible.
Delving further into this issue, Wood also learned that many people want to be able to view their devices in public without having to worry about others seeing what they’re looking at. The result is TekNest, a proprietary Tablet Case that Wood is seeking to bring to market with crowdfunding help via a Kickstarter campaign that will kick-off on Friday, July 31.
“If we meet our funding goal, we will be able to offer the only tablet/iPad case that provides both shade and privacy,” Wood said. “TekNest is a complete redesign of what a tablet case should be. This patent-pending design allows you to view your tablet outdoors without glare, and in total privacy by using its unfolding wings. Our plans are to offer it in two universal sizes, to fit almost any tablet on the market.”
To celebrate the Kickstarter launch, Wood and his team will host a reception at Boone’s Microbrewery AMB. In the spirit of promoting the local economy, a portion of proceeds from beer sales will benefit F.A.R.M Café (“Feed All Regardless of Means). TekNest will provide grilled burger plates to attendees for donations of $1 or more.
“This is a great opportunity for us to share this process with our friends in the community, enlist their support even in small ways that we know can lead to great things,” Wood added. “We hope this product that will has been home-grown in Boone will soon come to market, and of course, our early backers and supporters will have access to the first editions at a deep discount.”
