Nov. 7, 2013. An IHOP – International House of Pancakes – is coming to Boone, according to IHOP spokesman Craig Hoffman.

Hoffman was on the road during the interview and didn’t have an exact address offhand, but Steve Frank with WATA 1450 AM noted that the old Blockbuster Video would become the new IHOP this morning.

Hoffman couldn’t give any details regarding an opening time frame or construction details.

According to Watauga County Register of Deeds, SE BB Boone, Inc., purchased the 1.22-acre property for $866,500 on June 12, 2013. At the end of May, Blockbuster closed up shop in Boone like it did with about 300 other locations across the nation.

Along with the Waffle House and Chipotle Mexican Grill, IHOP is another chain restaurant that has announced its future presence in town in just the past several months.

What do you think about IHOP moving into Boone?
