Horn in the West Farmer’s Market Offers Food, Music, Cooking and Fun this Saturday Starting at 8 a.m.

June 14, 2012. This weekend’s Farmer’s Market at Horn in the West will host an array of farms and growers this Saturday, with a side of musical entertainment and cooking instruction thrown in for good measure.

Beginning at 8 a.m. and concluding around noon, visitors to Horn in the West will be treated to some delicious, locally produced food. 

Fog Likely Farm will deliver some of their fresh garlic and other garlic products as well as sugar snap peas and seven lettuce mix.Zydeco Moon Organic Farm will also provide freshly grown produce like summer squash, buttercrunch lettuce and spring onions. Moretz Mountain Orchard, Faith Mountain Farm and Mountain Memories Farm will also set up shop. These farms will be providing everything from raspberries to gluten-free donuts. Many other vendors will be on hand providing their locally grown produce and foods.

Local Bluegrass group the Sorghum Boilers will provide music during the event. 

The Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture and Appalachian District Health Department will also host a local food-cooking demo. 

Children will also be thrilled to participate in the Children’s Mini-Market. The young’ns are invited to bring any foods that they have grown or made to offer up for sale.

“We’ve gotten off to a fantastic start,” Farmer’s Market Manager Tori Cox said. “It’s definitely gaining steam. We’re been lucky to have fantastic weather so far and a bunch of new vendors that are doing well and providing a lot of really great products. It’s been a fantastic start to the summer.”

The Saturday morning Farmer’s Market will run each weekend, rain or shine, until October. The Market is also open on Wednesday mornings, 8 a.m. until noon, through September.
