Annual High Country Wedding Expo to Benefit Hospitality House Unveiled Sunday, March 2 at ASU

Feb. 21, 2014. The High Country Wedding Expo, presented by ACES Event Specialists, will be unveiled Sunday, March 2 at the Appalachian State University Summit Trail Solarium from 1-4 p.m. The wedding expo is the perfect place for all current, future and dreaming-to-be brides to visit all her prospective wedding vendors in one space.

Attendees will get to see the dresses, taste the cakes, hear the music and smell the flowers all while benefitting hungry neighbors in need as 100 percent of admission ($8 or 5 canned/dry goods) goes directly to Hospitality House.

Caterers and restaurants will be there with food to sample, photographers will be on hand displaying their work and a fashion show will be presented by South’s Clothiers and Did Someone Say Party?

“It is important to ACES that we give back to our community,” states ACES President Elizabeth Hempfling. “While the High Country is home to some of the most scenic locales and experienced event professionals we also have the third highest rate of poverty in North Carolina. Positioning the wedding expo as a hunger-relief event is our way of helping to bridge that gap and provide some much needed assistance.”

This year’s expo also serves as the kickoff event for the Hospitality House Feinstein Challenge, running from March 1 to April 30. Hospitality House has once again partnered with the Alan Shawn Feinstein Foundation, who will divide $1 million among hunger-fighting organizations across America, to help fight hunger in the High Country.

At the conclusion of the challenge, Hospitality House will receive a partial match grant from the Feinstein Foundation based on the amount of funds and food raised during this time. During the challenge, each food item is counted at $1 and every dollar is eligible for the partial matching funds.

“We are so grateful to ACES for once again making Hospitality House the beneficiary of the Wedding Expo,” said Hospitality House Director of Development Todd Carter.

“Last year’s expo raised over $1,000 and 600 pounds of food, making it the perfect way to kick off our Feinstein Challenge.”
