“One of the benefits of the High Country Host is our ability to promote all counties in the High Country, like we have in the U.S. Airways Magazine article,” said High Country Host marketing director Candice Cook.

“Visitors do not care about county lines, so advertising the High Country as a whole gives us more coverage impact, lower-cost advertising rates for members and a competitive level of coverage to other tourist areas within driving distance.”

The article, titled “Altitude is Everything,” mentions many High Country attractions like Grandfather Mountain, the Blue Ridge Parkway, The Mast General Store, Rocky Knob Mountain Bike Park, Chetola Resort, Ashe County Cheese, the Boone Area Wine Trail, Grandfather Vineyards and Winery, Twigs, Vidalia, Mast Farm Inn, the Blue Ridge Music Trails, An Appalachian Summer Festival, Blowing Rock’s Art in the Park, Tweetsie Railroad, Christmas in July in West Jefferson, Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, the Blue Ridge Mountain Club, Blowing Rock Frameworks and Gallery, Westglow Resort and Spa, Morning Star Gallery, Blowing Rock Art and History Museum, ECRS, Appalachian State University, Lees-McRae College, Hawksnest Zipline, Beech Mountain, Seven Devils, Hanna’s Oriental Rugs and Gifts, Tazmaraz, Green Park Inn and Chestnut Grille, the Parkway Craft Center, Christmas in Blowing Rock, Blowing Rock Antique Center, Village Inns of Blowing Rock and Isabella Propeller.

This extensive article brings to light many fantastic things about the High Country that may otherwise remain the area’s best kept secrets. So watch out High Country Folks. If you plan on traveling on a U.S. Airways flight, you may just be recognized.
