GM: Hampton Inn and Suites on U.S. 421 Scheduled To Open in Early October

By Jesse Wood

The Hampton Inn and Suites is tentatively scheduled to open the first week of October, according to the hotel’s general manager Tara Brossa.

“Everything is on schedule. We should start our training courses next month and will be ready to open in the beginning part of October,” Brossa said on Monday.

The new Hampton Inn and Suites is located along U.S. 421, across the street from Bubbles Car Wash and Bojangles’ restaurant. Groundbreaking of the hotel took place in late April.

The five-story development will consist of 113 rooms and represent a $14 million investment. It will also feature nearly 800 square feet of meeting space, an indoor pool, a fitness center and an outdoor courtyard.

The local Hampton Inn and Suites will operate under the Watauga Hospitality Associates, LLC, but is still under the Poteat Hospitality Associates, which also operates the Courtyard by Marriott on N.C. 105. Around the time of the groundbreaking, Poteat Hospitality Associates said that they planned on opening the hotel in the summer of 2016.

Brossa mentioned that while a majority of the staff has already been hired, she is still looking for housekeepers and maintenance employees. If you are interested in working at the Hampton Inn and Suites, send an email to tara.brossa@hilton.com or click here.

If students of The Standard, a 561-bed student housing development in Boone, are still living in hotels by the time the Hampton Inn and Suites eventually opens up, the new hotel could provide relief during the busy weekends, such as the Appalachian State football games on Saturday or the mid-October weekend that features both the Woolly Worm Festival and Valle Country Fair.
